Jon Feldman began G. biloba Gardens, Inc. in 1983, after a
three-year engagement as managing horticulturist for a one hundred acre
estate in
Alpine, New Jersey.
Jon's interest in gardening began at approximately age 3, when, while thought to be missing during a rainstorm, was found outside, with a shovel in his hand digging in his sandbox.
Graduating Drew University with a BA in Botany, Jon continued his education at the New York Botanical Garden towards a degree in Horticulture. His background includes study in the areas of botany, horticulture, sustainable/organic agriculture, fine arts, architecture, graphic design and all phases of residential home construction.
His study and experiences in plants and landscape design have taken him around the world. In 1979, Jon completed a solo circumnavigation of the world studying public education programs at the world's greatest Botanic Gardens, funded through a grant from the Circumnavigator's Club, in New York, and supported by the New York Botanic Garden.
G. biloba Gardens Inc.'s reputation as one of the area's most innovative garden
design companies is a direct result of Feldman's ability to pull together the
principles
of the various disciplines he has studied and utilize them to create beautiful
outdoor environments that reflect each clients' dreams about what a garden should
be. With many years of experience in residential and commercial garden construction
the company's staff of craftsmen and horticulturists continue to bring Feldman's
designs faithfully to life.
Jon's monthly column, "
The Lifetime Gardener," is a regular feature in The Nyack Villager, the best local newspaper for residents of the Hudson River Villages in Rockland County, New York.
